The 3.5 should have enough torque to override seizing ancillaries I would think.:)
Is the alternator light is coming on when it just prior to stalling?
Your problem could be HT leads breaking down or a LT wire with a bad connection around the ignition with all the oil etc. Run it in a dark place and you will see cowboys and Indians on the offending leads.
My old Vitesse mess 4.6 91 RRC had a habit of doing similar things, no one could find the problem until a mate of mine found a dry solder on the engine ECU.
Repaired it and all good (back to chirp tyres off the line on dry asphalt):twisted:

Just took a peek under the cover of darkness, and found nothing untoward. Took it for a bit of a run for things to warm up and it was like watching a fireworks show. :(
So. New leads? Think that will have it happy?
Go with the new Bosch leads, rarely have I been unhappy with them.:)
