Thread: Help! RRC intermittently running like a chaff cutter...

The 3.5 should have enough torque to override seizing ancillaries I would think.
Is the alternator light is coming on when it just prior to stalling?
Your problem could be HT leads breaking down or a LT wire with a bad connection around the ignition with all the oil etc. Run it in a dark place and you will see cowboys and Indians on the offending leads.

My old Vitesse mess 4.6 91 RRC had a habit of doing similar things, no one could find the problem until a mate of mine found a dry solder on the engine ECU.

Repaired it and all good (back to chirp tyres off the line on dry asphalt)

    Cowboys and Indians it is...

Just took a peek under the cover of darkness, and found nothing untoward. Took it for a bit of a run for things to warm up and it was like watching a fireworks show.

So. New leads? Think that will have it happy?

Thats what I wanted to hear.

New leads (yes, probably Bosch) will go on tomorrow morning.

I might just get this bloody thing good to go bush for the weekend after all!

I'll let you all know how it goes...

Not withstanding their cost (which I think is not that high) they have very good tight fitting boots which make them quite splash resistant, which is a definite help in a fourby.

If I were a bit closer I would have relieved you of the 120.

Thanks for the offer mate. SuperCrap are just down the road so I should be able to get it all sorted tomorrow morning.

I'm all worried now... any one have any last minute recommendations? Last minute suggestions? Should I just replace the leads and suck it and see?

You may need a spare uni, grease nipple,CV,water pump, hoses, etc

spark plugs may be worth a look.
If you actually could see the sparks on the HT leads and replace them you should be fine
