Anyone familiar with this Tdi modified Classic?

Spotted this in my recent eBay scan,

Range Rover hi line convrt 2 diesel - eBay, Passenger Vehicles, Cars, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 09-Jun-10 15:50:49 AEST)

a white 87 RRC fitted with a tdi motor. Wondering if anyone on here knows this car and can tell me whether it has been done properly. The vendor does not have a sparkling feedback rating. I have considered a tdi or td5 conversion at some future date, so one already sorted seems worth considering. Would be very appreciative of any info on this one.

I wouldn't be to concerned about the sellers 80% feed back. Had nothing to do with his items being dodgy etc.

Looks like a 300 Tdi. Be likely ex Disco so should have the R380/LT230 or if auto, ZF4HP22/LT230. The conversion is fairly straight forward so should be no issues there.
Be well worth a look I would think. Just make shure he can produce proof of where the engine came from of make sure its been updated on the RTA records. You may have all sorts of fun getting it regoed otherwise.

Cost over $10,000 for conversion and is very economical now with range rover luxery.
    half price now!

    Any more information

Wow I bet he really saves money with that conversion!!!
If you can get it cheap you maybe can benefit , but I bet he has a reserve over 10K.

I have a 300 tdi in my 87 rangie and love it. $10000 for the engine, gearbox and labour to do conversion is about what it would cost.
Mine was very straight forward to get engineered and registered.

Doesn't it usually say ''reserve not met'' under the price if it does have a reserve on it?

I just told a friend to bid for it.
It sounds to me like he is just sick of it or may have other cars.
Saves him doing it and I bet the $10k price is pretty spot on too.

If I had the room, I would buy it.

    Thanks for spotting it.

    G`day Peter ,

he sold a 92 TDi for $2500 and a 2000 TD5 for $7500 so i`d say he does a bit of buying and selling . Nothing much in his feed back that i`d call a worry other than the low #

In the pics it says something on the tailgate left bottom that is not usual , probably who did it .

With the info from the ad give Ritters a ring , they have done these conversions and normally keep records . The sort of thing Deacons would do also .

    Cheers

I told a mate about it, he made an offer and the guy accepted.
He is on 1st flight over there today and if it lives up to expectation, he will drive back.

    I will let you know.

Good luck to your mate Big Guy, I have been unable to arrange a view due to my shiftwork and didn't want to bid without seeing it, especially as the guy appears to be an amateur used car dealer. Would be interested to know what your mate paid?
