So I got, and am in the process of fitting an LRA snorkel.
Just a quick question, the rubber valve that sits at the bottom of the air filter housing. Should I block that up? What is it for?
Im not planning on trying to waterproof the V8 for serious wading, but If I was, surely that valve would let water in?
Cheers
Its a burp valve that theoretically can let out any dust or water that gets into the filter housing but not let water in. I also think That you are supposed to squeeze it every now and then.
I say theoreticallyas they get leaky as they get old.
I silasticed up the majoprity of mine leaving a small pinhole for water to get out.
Mate if you are in so much water that it gets in, I think you have greater problems as it is about a metre from the ground and it would only get that high if the car were stopped .
You will get a little water in a snorkel in really heavy rain unless you turn the top around and who thinks of that at the time? I have found my aircleaner all wavy after heavy rain but the good news is they dry out fine.

well its all fitted! looks good and fitted well, Cheers to LRA and Anthony (I think that was his name) for great instructions and advice!
Nice work mate, Did you notice any difference when you put this on?.![]()
Heres a pic of my Rangie with snorkel after Cape trip. The snorkel was a bent up by KLR automotive and i got some flexi tube from pirtek and fitted it up.
I siliconed up the little duckbill valve for those deeper water crossings.
Hope this helps.
Cheers Sean
