    GLB281 - LED replacements?

    anyone found a source for LED versions of the GLB281 bulbs as used in the likes of the difflock light on early classics?
    2007 Discovery 3 SE7 TDV6 2.7
    2012 SZ Territory TX 2.7 TDCi

    I haven't found any commercially available, but I have made up my own - for both the RR, and all my 4 motor bikes. I use the existing globe, break the glass out of it so I just have the base remaining, and solder an appropriate LED & dropping resistor in its place. A blob on 5 minute aryldite holds it firmly in the base. Doing it this way is quite fiddly, but you can choose the colour & intensity you want. If you have the patience and a steady hand, you can do this for almost any size globe.

    Please note the attached photo is not of the GLB281, but the slightly larger dash lamps from my 82 Kawasaki. The GLB281's are more fiddly, but the same principal applys.

    Hi mate, I may be being a bit thick here, but I can't find the automotive link you are refering to. If I can buy the little suckers, it will save me a heap of time and burnt fingers I get from making them..

    Great site that - looks like the BA9S would do the trick, but they have a heap of other good stuff as well. I will be ordering some and giving them a try - I will report back...

    BA15S -1156 - Automotive LED Indicator Replacement Bulbs
    BA9s is a 9mm diameter single contact, BA15s is 15mm single and BA15d is double contact etc etc.
    I would compare at an autoshop first with a normal BA9 or even a BA7.
