Apart from difficult access, it's a fairly straightforward job.
You might find it easier with the box out & on the bench if you don't like working in tight spots though.
I bought a project Rangey and it's leaking from the input shaft seal.
Is this a hard job to do or is it easier an cheaper to replace the entire unit?

Its a pig of a job while in sityu as the seal has to be pushed in the right spots to go in properly. Or you could hire a contortionist
I would take it out as its probably quicker in the long run.
After mine started leaking again after 10000ks I put in a new box.

did the same to mine when i first got it, big of a dog getting it out to the bench but once its there its a cream job to do theres a fair bit of adjustment on them thou so just be careful with that
