    RRC what to look for

I'm going to have a look at a 94' RRC in a couple of days.
I know there is the general mechanics like errmmm powertain backlash, fluid leaks etc to look out for but is there any specific things I should double check on the these later RRC's ?
I know I should have a good look at the suspension airbags.
The P38's are prone to headgaskets is it the same in the 3.9?

Will a standard OBD(I & II) reader work on these for fault codes?

If the ride is 200,000 K's on the clock ... It will be a bonus if they have changed the viscos / chain & the output shaft

If not ... I would HIGHLY recommend that the output shaft be changed, regardless .... about $360 + 6hrs easy work

I love the B/W box ... But the above parts are it's "Achilles heal"

The rest of the car will be normal rover gear that your use to

    Cheers

I sit soft dash? Check air con working and heater core etc.
PITA to fix, cooling system and electrics.
I had several 93-94's and electric seats, windows and electric thermo fans played up a bit.
Is it on gas, check expiry dates and service history.
Even a low mileage one can be big problems.
I sometimes wish I still had my RRC as I find the ride is much better than my Disco 1. Just my opinion of course.

At 160K .... plan to change the B/W output shaft within the next 12 months area

Also the paint job .... They have a clear coat over a colour ....
ANY sign of clear coat peeling ... and this will mean a brand new paint job is required (can't miss it, Will look like "dry glue spots" when in the early stages of clear coat deterioration)

    Full paint job = 3 to 5 k respectively

Take a chair and stand on it .. to see the roof

BTW .... If you buy it .... LOVEMYRANGIE ... can advise you about the EAS repair and computer program side of things

    Cheers

sadly no, the 94'was at best in average condition mechanically, with a bit of a cluncky auto-box gearchange, could be one of several minor-ish things or not? But the big put off for me was the interior as really the interior is the big draw card for a 94'.
Most of the veneers needed replacing all seats would need re-upholstered, two of the doors didn't shut/open propely, bit of trim missing here and there. Roof lining drooping, sun roof didn't slide, cover for sunroof needed replacing.
3/4 of the body panels, (at least) needed replacing.
So all up I think it would be easier and cheaper to buy something looked after to start with and that was just the stuff I could see visually without having real good poke about.
Also when I arrived it was on the drive with a hot engine, ie been running a while, and it was not his daily driver. So Im thinking it has cold starting issues, or one of several other things a hot engine can hide.
Bit of a shame to see a 94' so neglected.
On the plus side it had new airbags and good tyres

I forgot to say I din't get as far as seeing if all the electric bits n pieces worked, I didn't want to waste more of my time or his.
