    gearbox overheating

has anyone found that on late classics the gearbox overheates and the ecu will not allow the car to start, not good with heat sink from a short stop. its done this twice now on me both times after a hard workout. also last trip the kickdown cable appears to have died removing throttle travel until it was disconected. driving the 4speed auto as a manual is fun at times but can be a pain on long weekend in sydney( passing through). bigger cooler is going in when I can arrange time to remove cooler pipe and modify fittings to suit.

    How late a Classic.
On my 92 when the transmission overheats, a light illuminates on the dash and that is all. There is no connection to the ECU.
AFAIK this is all that happens on all 14CUX but I could be wrong.

Heat soak will also affect the starter motor. You may need to check the connections, or dismantle and clean the starter motor. Sometimes a relay fitted near the starter motor in the solenoid circuit can help. Quite simple to do.

its a 94 soft dash, the light comes up on the dash as you said but give the old girl a rest for 30 to 40 mins and it fires straight up. ive had heat soak on ford v8's and the engine tries to turn. on reg there is the usual noises on turning of the key until silence and no turning in the start position.
