    A V8 R380 - yes.

3.5, 3.9, 4.0, 4.2, 4.6 are basically the same at the back end.

Where are you getting a 4.2? They were never released in Australia.

hey BJ yeah i was bidding on one one fleabay in sydney ,complete 87 classic with 4.2 . i missed out on it , sold for $630 would have been nice in the old rangie. the boss is starting to put the pressure on to sell it and put the money towards the disco as she dosent want her 92rrc chopped to fit the 33's and we cant aford to run 3 car's. i'm finding it hard to let go of the old girl everything is already there just a sad motor.tony

The odds are its a 3.5 with stroker kit, so the correct question perhaps should be about 3.5s
If you list the engine number an expert will be able to tell you what the engine is.

Ditto. I had one like that through my place that ended up in a mate's 87 RRC. Nice engine for towing it is.

I have a stroker crank for my 3.5, just need to find the time to rebuild the engine, then refit it.

The 4.2l V8 was an option on the very last of the classics, LSE's and Autobigraphy's. I have seen a handful here in aus and they were sold through dealers

Bigjohn , when you say you have a stroker crank , is it the 3.030 stroke one ? fitting that will only take it out a 3.5 to 3.8 .So obviously you would be fitting the 3.9 Liners and pistons bringing the bore up from 3.5 to 3.7 then that will make it a 4.2 ? But if you had a crank with 3.330 stroke and just 3.5 bore then that would be 4.2 as well !
Allways wondered why you cant fit the 4.4 P76 3.5" stroke crank , given the right rod length and Piston CR Probably wont fit in the case.Still ,I fit a 3.875 crank where once 3,030 was on my holden V8's (308 to 400 CI), Lots of grinding and grouting !!Just dreamin !!
