lol probably shouldve specified that i already have a tired 3.5l so looking for something a with a bit more grunt.
There's a bunch of 4.4 P76 motors coming up on ebay at the moment if you want cheap grunt. Watch out for overheating though, they pack 20% more heat with their 20% more power.
Fitting a P76 4.4 has its own problems, you need an engineers report as they are not exactly the same. These motors have not been made since 1973 so parts are getting hard to get, the rangie flywheel will have to be redrilled to suit the 4.4 crank, the engine mounts need to be modified, your std manifold wont fit the 4.4 block as the deck height is 17mm higher and the 2 bbl stromberg wont meet most of the pollution requirements.
You will also have to make up accessory mounts and carby cable. The 4.4 also requires a spacer ring on the starter.
For the money you will spend on fitting a 4.4 I would consider a 3.9v8 or a chev conversion, chev parts are so much easier and cheaper to get, or if you are lucky a 4.6 may come up at the right price.
Just remember that old 3.5s don't usually blow up , they just get weaker and weaker.lol probably shouldve specified that i already have a tired 3.5l so looking for something a with a bit more grunt.
A fresh 3.5 say with high comp and a mild cam and head work and 3.9 manifolds will surprise you in a light 2 door.

Why not annoy everyone...and put in something like a Ford v-6 / 4 litre ?

Myself, I would got for a Chrysler 340 with carburettor and Kettering ignition, or if you want to modernise and are not unhappy about potential electronic failures in the bush, an aluminium Chev.

Considering it has all new gear in it![]()
