Did you swap distributors?
If so, have you double checked it's not 180deg out?
Hi guys,
I'm searching for some answers.
I have recently converted my carby over to efi.
my blue car: 4.2L manual carby
doner (silver): 3.5L auto efi (Flapper not hot wire)
Both cars where running before I started. Now my car doesn't run.
I've used the orginal wiring harness and mated it into the car.
Running the doner cars' fuel lines and tank (Long range one)
Swapped the inlet manifold and everything attached to this over.
and its got enough fuel in it...
here is the ecu:
dial knobs on ecu
The car sounds like 'it wants to start' but just won't fire
The injectors are pulsing, fuel is completing the circuit (can hear it splashing back into the tank), it has spark.
any ideas?

Have you connected the wire from coil + to the ECU that tells the ECU that the car has started?
Have you pressed down the inertia switch?
Regards Philip A
No the inertia switch cuts off the fuel if you have an accident. In a 89 on it is under the passenger seat.Theres one to the negative side of the coil, there were no wires heading to the positive side in the harness. should it be one the positive?
whats/where is the inertia switch? (I assume thats for the auto to tell if the cars in park?)
Re the coil to ECU -I was wrong it is coil negative to ECU , so there should be one wire from the amplifier and one to the ECU
Now I am not sure it is applicable , but when I fitted a "federal" injection it had a connection from the coil(NEGATIVE) to ECU and I had a look at the USA diagram for an 87 which is a 1CU , which is different.
Can someone have a look at their flapper and see if there is a wire from coil - to ECU as well as the one to the distributor?

thanks for the heads up. that thread looks like a good read, I'll check it out tommorrow morning
Hmm not sure about the inertia switch. nothign under the seat. its is an 86, does anyone know if the 86 has this switch?
Heard the news that the cars is running![]()

I'm back at work in Rockhampton the cars in Sydney, when i got the call i was was so excited i was jumping around and broke the gf's bed
my dad and a good mate of mine (Dave - Guru036) replaced the coolant temp switch and got all the ballast/resitors from another rangie and swapped the coil & distributor.
thanks to all, for the info. Espically Dave (not sure of username) who emailed me the 86 fuel injection manual, the 'pit crew' said it was a great help
Good Good, Glad you got her running finally
Cheers,
Dave
