    One piece tailgate for Classic

Has anybody ever seen or heard of an aftermarket One Piece Tailgate to fit a Clsssic ?

I tend to lug around a lot of stuff..and even though the boot space is'nt much, reaching in to behind the back seat is just as difficult with the 'gate up or down.

I've been assured that they do, or at least did exist...

IMHO the current top section hinges would'nt be strong enough to take the extra weight, even if it was all aluminium.

Any thoughts ? - and yes, I suspect my sources are confusing this with the aluminium top-sections available from England.

... Or almost as good would be a tailgate that was side-ways hinged, leaving the top glass to do its thing regardless.

Would be nice to keep it together, but was thinking that the 'gate-only scenerio would be more do-able.

    Just musings....

Yep, I reacon your right. I had a similar thought, but my engineering skills wouldn't be up to it.

I remember Mike telling me that the body had more flex with the 1 piece tailgate fitted. Also had bit more of a problem of stuff falling out the back when opening the tail gate.
