I remember a one piece tailgate came up on eBay probably 12 months ago. Not much use for you now though but I guess they're out there - somewhere!!

    Thanks !
    - Is the Smith's tailgate a home-built job ? - Certainly looks like one... - everything fits properly ! LOL

Barn door are just as good an idea, notice it uses standard RR hinges and Morris Marina door handle. Which means the rear end is or can be beefed up to take the load of armoured doors.

Mal Story of MaxiDrive used to make a one piece aluminium tailgate, the glass pushes in from the rear and is held in with aluminium angles. They are lighter than the OEM 2 piece steel ones so your gas struts push them up with a vengence (I have 1 good strut and 1 dead one for balance).

The first MaxiDrive one I purchased from Graeme Cooper in 2001.

They are now made by/for MR Automotive where I got my second one for my spare RRc.

IMHO they are much better than the 4 piece ones from Britpart.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

LAL, I think they're talking about a replacement for the upper & lower tailgates .

    Get thee behind me Satan...

My Hobbes, my bank manager respectfully requests that you cease & desist from putting such juicy temptation in my way.... and my long-suffering wife just gave me a very strange look when I mentioned the *need* for a bullet-proof family wagon...

Yes Diana, I know about the replacement glass/metal top section... I want the whole shebang in one piece so I don't have to crawl up and over the tailgate to reach right into the boot... and risk doing myself a mischief on those two "LIFT" tabs. - Don't ask how I know !!! ;-(
