83 Range Rover Exhaust
G'day,
i have an 83 4dr with the 3.5 v8, it has a pair of Genie Extractors fitted with stock exhaust and resonator at the back. the exhaust mufflers and pipe need replacement as they are rusted and leaking etc.
i was thinking of fitting a straight thru sports muffler & 2.5" pipe work out the back minus the resonator.
is this ok for my stock 3.5 motor?
cheers,
Chris

It will drone.
Acceptability will depend on your tolerance but I could not stand it.
Add a "dogleg" free flow resonator with a central expansion chamber and it will be much better.

Hi Chris,
I just fitted a straight through pipe and had one small muffler at the back, certainly reduced the repair bill after a day out playing. I found one that fitted between the rear axle and the rear bumper, the engine performed a bit better with less resistance to gas flow. If you keep the muffler as high as you can and put a longer tail pipe out of the muffler this works better I found. Sounded alright and not to noisy.
