    tie rod eye replacement

I am trying to eliminate steering slop, I have replaced all the tie rods, the pitman arm and I noticed the new tie rod at the rear of the wheel on the passenger side is moving, so I take it out, put in a new male tie rod end and its sloppy, so the female tapered part is worn. So I figure it can be pressed out and a new one pressed in but my local LR guy tells me no, the whole casting needs to come off, brand new CV seals and all that, and he will put a new tie rod tapered part in as part of the rebuild, of about $550.

I have put in some tin in a half pipe shape to take up the gap for the moment.

Can anyone verify if this is true, or is there another way to do it.

    regards.
