I have RAVE but from 95, so it only has the soft dash which looks to be different

Im thinking maybe gas /petrol switch??
Did you test it? Guessing will get you nowhere.

The basic wiring for the '95 is not a lot different to earlier models with the 14CUX system. Your injectors are operated in two banks. As you have found 12V at the injectors on gas I would say the negative injector wires are cut with two relays or one dual cut-off relay. (The wires are both yellow, one with a white stripe, can't remember the other. Blue?. Look at the injector plugs.)

Now you need to chase the injection harness through the firewall to the ECU. Somewhere along the way there will be a sticky-taped patch with wires to the aforementioned relay/s, usually under the dash. This harness is separate from the body harness and so should be easy to find.

If the relays are plain ones power them up manually and see how they go. They will normally get 12V from the gas switch, petrol side. The other type of injector cut is powered up from the gas side of the switch so when the power supply fails or petrol is selected they go automatically to petrol mode. I suspect you have the plain relays.

It's covered in like a black heshon bag. Might be a good idea to inspect this as mine was badly corroded, causing me a few funny electrical problems.

    Cheers
Thanks for the tip, i checked mine out and it all looks to be in very good order.
