    Temperature Gauge

    Hi all got a little problem with my Temp gauge were it goes straight to H when the key is turned on got a feeling its the sender unit in thermo housing didnt want to start pulling apart, theres that much electic stuff in the car thought might run it by the members first thankyou.
    Its a 94 SD 3.9

    It may be that you actually have a disconnect in the wiring going to the sensor. So check the wires going to the sensor unit to see they are intact and the terminal makes good contact.

    If you have a meter test if there is a dead short in the sensor unit, if there is replace the sensor.
    Check if there is any current at the end of the temp sensor wire, if there isn't then you have a break or disconnect upstream.
    Also check what happens when you ground the end of the wire that terminates on the sensor.

    You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

    I believe a failed earth at the temp gauge can give the same symptom.

    Maybe a 94 is different but all earlier RRCs had the temp gauge sensor at the front of the inlet manifold , with a single wire going to it.

    The thing on the thermostat housing is usually a switch to turn on the fans if the engine temp is excessive.
