Make sure you have enough money and time to fit all the replacement axles and diffs you will need....
Cut guards and/or body lift. Rims with offset further out.
i have just bought a 88 rangie and want to put 35" or 33"tyres on it ,what do i have to do to make them fit

i have decided i am going to just run on 33" now,i all ready have a 2" spring lift will i still need a body lift and does any body know where i can get flares at a reasonable price
flares for the mud guards?
they are on ebay, or even cheaper to go to clark rubber and buy the rubber, screw it on yourself.
These are the flares i have on my 86 range rover. They are expensive for what they are but they do look good and you can paint them.
My only other problem is how easy it is the take chunks out of them, but that is more to do with my driving style i think.
Flares & Wheel Arch Extensions

To elaborate further on what has already been said. To fit 33s I would recommend a -20 or -25 offset wheel (assuming 8" width).
You will need to trim the guard back 1.5" at a minimum with a touch more trimmed from the trailing edge at the rear lower QTR (taper the 1.5" out to about 2.5" over a cutting distance of approx 20-30cm, pending on how you like the guards finish to look)
And the same for both lower edges of the front guard.
Make sure you trim back or replace all the bolts and screws protruding into the front wheel wells, and also remove the bolt that supports the leading edge of the rear qtr (at the join between the rear door and the rear qtr panel)
No body lift is required, but with soft springs you can expect some contact with the panels (outer qtrs) at speed or (inner arches) under heavy flex.
You should be expecting a differential failure unless you drive it very cautiously or have upgraded the internals.

I rule!!!
2.4" of Pure FURY!!!
I have a mate who is running 35" tyres without cutting the guards up much. I cant remember how much lift it has but it all seems to fit together nicely.
If you want to know more about it I can find out.
