    93 Classic

    Hi All

Well we have bought another classic, (93) to join my 87.

Have my fingers crossed that it doesn't present with as many problems as the 87 has, she almost killed my passion for these great vehicles, her two predecessors were absolutely fabulous.

My son is bringing her home from Melbourne today. the only incident so far is the top of the dipstick broke off when he went to check the oil somewhere north of Aulbury. Fingers crossed he arrives without any further problems tomorrow afternoon, hope I haven't jinxed him.

    Cheers Jhonno

Broken dipstick? No worries - that's just the cars way of telling you that you never need to check the oil.

Spoke to soon Nikko is t the service station at Coolongalook trying to get the drivers hub off to see if he can salvage the bearing enough to get home, just started to squeak with the occasional catch, no overheating yet, minimal tools is proving a bit of a hassle.

Update: A passerby has pulled up with tools, hub's off, inner bearing is dry, collar tight on stub but all rollers intact and still in their cage. Clean up repack and on their way I hope.

Update: They arrived without further incident at 2230 last night.

    Problems found.

Hazards only work on the left side, any ideas?? Blinkers fine.

    No windscreen washers.

No cruise control, not too worried about that.

My Rave CD Classic section starts at 95, any suggestions where I can get a 93 disc or manual?

Fuel consumption varied between 4.4 & 4.9 kls per litre (gas)

Pity I did some damage to my right knee on Friday, will sure slow down the repairs to get her registered in NSW. The joys of buying interstate.

Fuel useage is pretty good for such an old (?) engine, 12.4 ~ 13.8 mpg on gas, which is the co$t equivalent of around 24 to 26 mpg on petrol.

Based on my own experience with cruise control and the advice heaped upon me, I'd start with the brake switch. It does'nt impress me as particularly robust in design or build.. (After you've checked the engine-room vacuum hose for perishing and the vac pump for operation.)

    Thanks for the info James.

No worries about the air suspension but a cruise control would be nice, (didn't think I'd ever say that) as I found out tonight during a trip to the airport, a bung knee sure brings the benefits of modern technology to the for.

    Cheers

The RAVE's Cruise-Control trouble-shooting guide is the only way to go, - got me straight to the problem. Eventually.

Hint:- Do all the tests (as far a possible) with parts in place,,, I was taking the brake switch OUT and testing it.... "perfect" But it was'nt moving quite far enough via the brake pedal... Fixed that with a tiny screw embedded in the plunger's end.

Incidently, mine won't "decrement" on the (-) paddle, it merely drops it out, but another touch will make it "RESUME" I'm sure the Cruise Control ECU is misbehaving, as the manual says that it should drop 1 mph on each touch of the (-) key. Not a problem, as its just as easy to touch it, - drop out - then re-set with the (+) button. Apart from that, its smoother than the C-Control in the Wife's Magna.

    Have fun !!!

Thanks again, soon as the knee is sorted I'll get onto it, plenty of time to go through the trouble shooting guide if it's the same as the 95, any ideas on a 93 manual?
