have got 86 model classic 3,5 efi 5 speed running gas and it backfired blowing apart my air flow meter before it backfired petol wasnt idling correct and had backfired before. have changed plugs and leads

Yes but which plugs, what plug gap, what timing, what brand leads? Big bangs will always damage air flow meters without anti-backfire flaps fitted to the air flow meter outlet. With the flapfitted they can backfire occasionally without much else happening.
