be careful....... in event of an accident, you're screwed insurance-wise
HI All,
Well finally everything is done and bleed up and my 91 rangie beast is back on the road.
However, since removing the abs system and fitting up a 89 vac booster setup, I of course have a crap load of lights on the dash.
I have been doing alot of searching but haven't been able to confirm if I should just pull fuses and relays for the ABS system or should I pull fuses, relays and the abs ecu parts out as well to be rid of error lights??
Thanks for any help in advance![]()
mmm, as an added thing, front wipers are no longer working :/ check fuse on ni the main block - thinking its an earth problem after removing the abs block?

yeah I have read that - going to see if I can get a engineer to cert it? or atleast look in to it. As it was - the abs if left in there would have caused a crash lol
cheers for confirming guys,
on the other hand - any ideas how to clear up all the errors off the dash? pull the plug on the abs ecu?
No, it has to be proven cause to the accident
Also the vehicle can still be roadworthy, a roadworthy is a list of general requirements to see a vehicle safe as roadgoing, NOT a comprehensive detailed report on all functions of the vehicle
A vehicle with an engine transplant unengineered can still pass a roadworthy, so long as nothing is unsafe
People don't know the requirements and continually spout "not inusred" "not roadworthy" when they are not correct
Actually the situation is this:
Because I have replaced the ABS system with factory parts from Landrover - there is no problem and has been done a number of times. I rang a fair few places to confirm that.
Also I have been told to unplug the ecu under the passenger seat to solve the ABS errors which I am about to do.
Then it might be an auto elec to fix the wipers![]()
AFAIK this comes under the category of as long as the change is fitted to a car certified in Australia then no problem, hence airbag to coil on RRC is legal , however on 38A is not.
RRCs came with non ABS to at least 92 as mine does not have it ( thank god) . Only Vogue SE had it as a "feature"
Regard sPhilip A
yeah mines the voge se - and very glad its not in there anymore!![]()
I appreciate the terms have often been "spouted" but if the research hasnt been done, then for a road registered vehicle, people can and have been prosecuted.People don't know the requirements and continually spout "not inusred" "not roadworthy" when they are not correct

Things havnt been said to put down Razor's efforts, but to ensure he has thorougly checked obligations and requirements and protect him in the event something unforesen and statistically unlikely, should occur.
It is a fact that RaZor will not be insured if the relevant bodies havnt given their OK. Insurance companies need much less than brake modifications to avoid a payout and if the insurance company is after RaZor for money then that will be whole new experience..
It is also a fact that if the Registering State authority do not approve of the mod he can be held liable. Regardless of whether they picked it up in an inspection or not.
The point is that in an accident with an injury or fataity and if RaZor were at fault, an inspection from any Crash Investigation Team will reveal the braking system fitted to the vehicle was modified and down graded from that originally fitted.
The onus is then on the RaZor to prove the brakes were NOT the problem not the other way around and without the appropriate registering body being informed and approving the mod, the case is all but over before it begins.
But rather than debate the workings of state systems and vehicle.
Different states may have a varying view, so if the "asking around" didnt include the relevant MVR, good luck. If it did and the answer allowed the go ahead, fantastic. A few pics and notes for the Good Oil would be good.
cheers
