Haltech ECU and aftermarket think machines
Good monin all,
I'm thinking of going for an aftermarket ECU, I've zoned on Haltech 500, its basic but my RRC 4.6 is a road car. Has anyone got one, running one, OR recommenations? I will be installing it myself,
Cheers NAT

IMHO, I would alsways get a chip for my 14CUX rather than go Haltech, if you mean a complete system rather than a piggyback.
The reason is that I have seen many aftermarket ECUs operate and they never IMHO work as well as stock as manufatcurers put millions into dyno time and starting strategies.
I was also told by Graeme Cooper many years ago that he hated selling Aftermarket ECUs as they never ran seamlessly and the owners were always coming back.
I remember from my personal experience that at the Stockton cleanup a couple of years ago, my fellow club member with a MOTEC spent about 5 minutes starting his RRC 4.6 in very hot weather, when my 14CUX with piggyback started first turn.
It is in the area of starting strategies that I feel there is most difference.
If I get a 4.6, I will buy a Tornado chip. I already have advance control via a Unichip.
