Reverse in a circle, or drive with 2 wheels on a sealed road and 2 wheels on a loose surface.

Just jack a wheel of the ground and spin it .Probably wont fix it as you have probably snapped a Center Diff spider shaft ,and the snapped side gears are jamming up the diff keeping it locked. Whats it done,300000 plus on the original LT230 ,and a LT77 ,its probably Broke ,Bloke !

bugger, na the last owner was quite fussy, but probably!
I'll give all that a go and then the search begins for a stronger unit. like a 380 yes?

sorry, I was tired when I wrote my first post,
It does release BUT wont go into high range no diff lock now. SO I had to drive it home in high range with the centre diff lock on. Do you all reckon its broken? or is there an adjustment somewhere ?

    Cheers NAT

You tired were you ,sounds like you still are !
Whats Wont go back into High range,NO diff lock supposed to mean?
So it will swap from High to Low and back to High ?
Can you even get the high/low in nuetral ?
So you can get low range ,without difflock ?
Can you get low range with difflock ?
Go back to bed ,and when your sure of what it is actaully doing ,let us Know

Not sure what the problem is not being able to shift back to high normal, but you might have problems now driving round with difflock engaged.

So you can't get into high range normally, you have to have the center diff locked for it to go in. Is it something simple like the lever hitting/ jamming on something? Have your gearbox mounts split and shifted? Least that's easy to check.

In low range will it come in and out of center diff lock ok?

Driving on road with the CDL in isnt the best for it, if you have to do it again just remove a driveshaft and limp home.

It actually sounds like a busted diff. Put it in unlock Hi range and see if one of the driveshafts spins.

Agreed - diff or axle. I think you will find it is a 2WD now, hence why you need the CDL in to make it go anywhere - you are loosing all your drive to the point of least resistance - ie - the broken bit...
