    Not the main supply line?

Mine broke about 12" from the tank, and the stink was everywhere.

If it smells mostly under the bonnet.....then there's a strong chance of a fuel leak somewhere........

If it was over fueling or running rich......then it would be blowing black smoke and smelling out the exhaust........

Do check that the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator isn't delivering neat fuel to the manifold, a sign of a failed reg.

    Type of fuel hose

Although my present car is RR LSE, diesel! A few years ago, restored a couple Jag xj6's and because they have fuel lines in the boot, I had a few problems with fuel smells coming inside-- really strong in boot!
With this unleaded petrol, lots fuel hose on the market actually not impervious to unleaded! Found that the only one I could find in Qld that was any good was Gates Injection hose.
I tested 4 different branded "injection" hoses by hanging about a metre of each; blocking ends after filling with fuel; check next day- one of them level dropped 200mm overnight-- OUT through the hose and it s outside stank of petrol!
The gates hose was the only one that level didn't drop, nor smelled anything but rubber.
    Check yours?

most of the rubber hose these days is crap...

your better off spending the money on fixing it with the hard plastic line similar to truck air line and the lines on the diesels.
