    Centre Diff Lock

Hi everyone, I just bought my first RRC and I've got a quick question. Which position is centre diff lock engaged, up or down on the little button.

up is in, down is out, of lock. ' down and out of luck' is a good way to remember

Thanks Justinc, I've never owned a Rangie before I've only had Series Landys and I know them pretty well. I was worried that I was damaging it by driving it in diff lock but I'm only driving on dirt at the moment.

Thanks for that - I'm just about to put together a new system and was wondering the same thing. Mind you, if the light is working then that may help!
At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.

I'd be careful . it can be locked and the light not be on if there is a break anywhere like the switch or globe. you can test the switch easily - it is behind the little circular plate on the floor slightly below and in front of the handbrake. 4 screws.

Well I know the light doesn't work but that doesn't matter I now know which way is engaged. Another quick question, can I put a Rover Drive on my Rangie from a IIA, I know where I can get one and I was just wondering if it'll work. As far as cruising a 110Km, what does the Rangie sit on in the rev range. I was thinking a 5 speed would be good for fuel economy but if the overdrive works that would be a bit cheaper and easier.

Range rover and economy aren't usually words that go together.

The 5 speed is fine and you won't need an overdrive - it won't fit anyway, the series box is different. It will cruise at 110 all day
    as it is.

Thanks for that, at the moment it's a 4 speed and I don't an lt77 because they're a bit weaker apparently but I am thinking of the R380 but they're a bit expensive. I may stick with the 4 speed for now.

You will never break the LT95, and if you like driving with a truck gearbox, you will feel right at home.

The LT77 in mine never broke in 26 years of use in mine, but I have just pulled it out. If you really want to upgrade to a 5 speed, save your pennys and get the namby pamby, soft shifting R380. I'm sure JC is so tough, he takes cold showers as hot water is for softys as well...
