Thread: Weird brake issue

Driving into Uni today my brakes suddenly started shuddering when first applied, the noise is almost as if the disk has worn thought to the vents and is catching on each fin. Not pleasant. I have had a quick look at the disks but they look all right. I cant see the pads. It is still stopping but not as well. What could this be? I am not losing fluid. I go past a few parts places on the way home so will try and get new bits then. I only have limited tools with me. It is in an 84 classic. non abs (if they even had them then)

Yikes! There's some decent torque used on them when tightened.

Funny, my Rangie had been repaired at the front by professionals and I didn't realise they'd used low-grade bolts to put the caliper back on. I figured it out when one bolt wouldn't torque up and started feeliing "soft". Luckily enough, the bolt was stripping its thread but the thread in the swivel housing was fine.

And that's why I always do my own work!
