ok, so back on topic!
has anyone been in a similar situation where they buy a classic range rover to use every other weekend, not as a daily driver? and how has it treated you? I'm thinking of a late 2 door model, or an 86-87 model (to qualify for club rego)
This is exactly what I have done .... It sad but lately the RRC has been the only car I trust to start each morning :censored: I reckon mine needs bushes in the front end. reliability wise, I haven't had to touch a thing in it.... It's on a 90day permit. I'm very impressed with it's offroad capability too. (though I must admit I'm not into serious offroading at all).Quote:

Having read through the threads here I think a classic with air suspension would be some fun to own too, there probably too young for use as club permit cars yet.......... Yes I'm insane, no doubt about it.

What an excuse to fit a dual battery system, its a built in jumper lead set if wired properly. All you need is a button on the dash to energise the connecting solenoid and you're away!Quote:

Getting back to original post classic 2 Doors were produced up to 83 I believe and my 81 RRC 2 Door is only a weekend driver :(
Its great, not the fastest of vehicles on the black tar, but makes it up off road as they were designed for.
Easy to work on, when you open the bonnet you can see the plugs no electronics ....except for electronic ignition (which I fitted)
Carbies are fine with the only issue being carry spare rubber diaphragms as these perish and can strand you unexpectedly.
The classic 2 door design was as the maker intended and I believe the best shape, but then again I'm bias, although the extra two doors do come in handy.
A good two door is getting harder to find and don't come cheaply, just read some recent posts by members on this site looking for them.
Ownership of a classic RR be it a 2 or 4 door will make you smile.
