    am i crazy?

Having just bought a current model falcon as a daily driver, i'm selling my old car (subaru liberty) and the tdi discovery i was preparing to get back on the road (will be going cheap), the main reason for selling the disco is that it won't fit under the roller door of my car port

however I can't bear not being able to get out into the bush, and a classic rangie seems to tick a few boxes, lower roof height, simplicity, somewhat reliable, great off road

also being a geology student is a good enough excuse to get out in the bush and look at some rocks! haha, its almost criminal to not be able to get out there

i've had a v8i disco before, but couldn't leave it alone and converted it to megasquirt, that was fine when i had time to fiddle with it, but the simplicity of carbs and lpg seems a hell of a lot less hassle

So the current plan is to clear out the other cars and look for a cheap, tidy RRC that is currently registered, what are peoples opinions? any advice? anyone know of one for sale?

There is another option.keep the disco, Get 2 sets of wheels/tyres one with low profile road tyres say 28-29in to let you get into your carport and another set of 33in muddies say 255/85 r16 bighorns or bfg's.

Find one with a nice body and a tired engine and fit the 300tdi into it instead.

I'm definitely not keeping the disco, and while i'd like to put the diesel engine into a range rover, its a bit more work than i'm keen to do

Go and buy a rangie body, plonk it on the D1 chassis, I wonder if you can get away without engineering that or not?!?! (Thinking out loud)

Better still, put a series body on the discovery chassis.

Hey Jazza, what's your budget for the RRC?
I was thinking about a really nice late model one for around $6k a while ago.

probably around 2-4k max, I don't want to spend heaps as it will only be a sometimes vehicle

and in all reality, body swaps are too much stuffing around also

If you get a complete body I have no doubt it could be done in a weekend, and that's including disco dash (because they're better).
