As I haven't driven the car yet, I went round the block to do a road test. (won't get a chance to touch the car until the weekend)

on the 'road test' The pressure under acceleration would go from 20 to 30 psi occasionally making it to 40 psi. once warmed up under acceleration 20-25psi but as soon as you came off the throttle, the idiot light came on and gauge plummeted, hit the throttle again and it comes up.

does this provide anymore insight to the brains trust?

    cheers

The oil pressure has nothing to do with throttle but is revs dependent.

AFAIR the oil pressure is supposed to be 40PSI at 3000RPM. Now 3000RPM is more than I generally use around town , so maybe you are not getting to the specified revs Vs pressure.

You must have something severely wrong to not get 40PSI with HPR30 in the car as it is a 60 grade hot oil.

Yeah I meant revs not throttle and on this it it would have been more like 4500-5000 *just testing the oil issues

Not wanting to sound facetious here but no, other than that you have a serious problem with oil pressure which warrants inspection of the things I listed in my first post. If the oil is not pouring from the exterior of the pump, you have an excessive clearance or failed gasket. Nothing other than a proper fix will fix it. Time to get dirty.
