Welcome to the well trodden path otherwise known as what to buy after a classic Rangie, that still has the green oval and a bit of old school charm.

Exactly a year ago today I was forced to walk the same path when my soft dash got written off with an electrical fire .

I think you'll be really pleased with the td5. I am certainly happy with mine and it makes a better tow vehicle compared to the Rangie. Ditto not having to own an oil company to fund the hydrocarbon addiction.

My only immediate advice is get yourself a nanocom ASAP. It will save a lot of diagnostic frustration.

Well, I must say that I've always not only appreciated but at times very much needed your help as I've battled with my own Rangie. And I can understand your decision, as even I've considered a TD5 at times . . . though I still think they're a bit too complicated for up here.

Was there any specific reason behind the change Philip?

Got a few fields that need ploughing, so bought yourself a tractor?!

(I have no room to talk - I've just bought a diesel to replace the D1 V8)

Its a tough decision that's not an easy one to make ......
No matter how much you love them it eventually comes down to how much do you keep putting into them vs the economics of their real value.

With a RRC there is something about the seating position, the ride and the burble of the V8 that has kept the smile on my face for 8 years .........can't you keep her.

Your input and knowledge on all things RRC will continue to be appreciated by all of us less knowledgeable and now that will extend to a D2 TD5 but like me and many others on this forum wish you many years of trouble free 4WD touring

With or without the "r" on the end changes the mental image dramatically.

I think it is a good move. I'm quite impressed with the D2 Td5's.

You put that well, and that's the reason I've been rebuilding mine. I know that there won't be many around in the next decade, so now is probably the last chance to enjoy all of the above while it's still pretty easy to keep these cars on the road.
