Grimace is likely right. If its running like crap and you unplug the MAF and it runs the same, the ECU is already in limp mode. Clean the connector plug, and if possible borrow a good working MAF to test the theory. Every time you switch off, the ECU resets if the MAF is working again but not while it's running.

Ok, there's an update,
It did it agin, i pulled over, either two things happened. I played with the fuel rail pressure sensor, (the clips broken, my next figs thing,) I rot it running. And it fixed itself!!!

So I will replace this, then..... Did someone say if it could be sticking valves if this happens, any way of repairing this without pulling heads off.

A I will get that program ASAP!

There is a great Hotwire diagnosis chart on LR4x4. You need to sign up to view it, but it shows step by step how o fault find these, and what tests to do on each sender. It is in order of the most common fault to the least common fault.

I can't reproduce it here as I'm not sure of copyright. Go to LR4x4.com and search for 'Hotwire diagnosis'

Plenty of other good stuff there as well.

ok, the update,
Put new connections on the
Fuel Temo Sendor and the Water temp sendor, both were broken.
I'm now on the good foot to download roverguage. Thanks Grimace.
and then make the connector. Any handy hints to get that connector I know its a five pin Lucas.

Unfortunately the only way i think it would be viable would be to get a couple of old looms remove the connectors and make on from the piggy back plugs.

I use three loose wires and have a saying in my head that reminds me which colour pin goes where. It's not very professional but it works

There was a gentlemen selling the cords with a moulded fit. Was not able to locate a link in my quick google search thou...

I have some updates, I've changed the plus on the temp sensor and petrol temp sensor, there was a fault cos it is running better again, I thought I'd fixed it!!! But today it did it again, so I pulled over ASAP and noticed I can hear it earthing from the dissy, well I think it is, cos the noise sounds like the noise it makes when you pull a lead off. I made sure all the leads we on correctly and the cap was located corectly. There is some excess movement in the cap so ill gets. New none ASAP.
Is there anything on these cars where it earths from the dissy!??

I'm not sure if this is the problem but its a good start.

Check ALL your plug leads with a multi meter and replace any that don't show a resistance in a few thousand ohms. Burnt out plug connectors will cause excessive voltages at the cap and carbon track it. New cap and rotor too, if needed. Sometimes caps start tracking after water condenses inside after getting the dissy excessively wet. Have you been playing in puddles?

Sometimes just leaving the dissy cap off in the sun for a couple of hours will fix condensation. If you're outta sun a hair dryer works too.

Ive got new plugs and leads. they are only a couple of months old....

and YEP love the mud! hehe.

I'll replace the cap and rotor button and see where this leaves me.
