I haven't done it but the chassis is pretty much identical between the '87 & '93 models.
There's some slight differences due to the EAS but that shouldn't affect the actual body swap.

Swapping the wiring over between bodies might be the hardest part....well, not hard but probably time consuming.

Not familiar with NSW rules, but in Vic you can't put an older body on a newer chassis if you want to be truly legal on road.

My 81 body on a 74 chassis was just technically a 'colour change'.

From memory there were no vin numbers actually on the body (matching the chassis ID) until about 93. Think about this.

Up until about 1986 the RRc bodies were Meccano sets, so individual elements, not just the external panels, could be swapped at will.

Yep...well sort of - swapped a 1991 Disco body for a 1998 Disco body (using the same 1991 chassis).

I did this to fit a Isuzu 4BD1T etc to the old chassis.

I made a pair of 'saw horse' sides out of 50x50x4 RHS with a cross beam that telescoped. This allowed me to lift the body off at either end with an engine hoist, drop it on the saw horses whilst I did the welding and fitting etc.

Between these models there was no difference to mounts etc. I ended up junking the 98 body due to unforseen corrosion in the nearside A pillar and around the top of the windscreen. So the 91 body went back on and i changed the panels - wanted a white car for a change....

Hope this helps. It's achievable as a one man job with pretty basic tools, a heap of patience and a decent work space.
