On a serious note, do you know what was deficient in your recovery gear or techniques that lead to the loss? Or was it just a real case of the crappiest luck?
He texted me before saying he was going back to the beach on his motorbike to check out the damage and to see if there was anyway if getting her above the high tide mark.

I came so very close, around 20 years ago. After walking several km's (thongs...) through snake-infested country to a travelled track... I had a pretty fair idea of what I'd done wrong....
