I think I'm gonna stick with the 300tdi, the sbc needs a full rebuild, where as the 300tdi came out of a disco with 240000klm, but I still wanna running a ring and bearing kit through it.

Does anyone know how to setup a diesel gas system on the 300tdi?

My car has a duel fuel setup on it, so I might as well keep the gas setup intact!

I've done quite a few, it's not particularly hard. Your gas tank will probably be a bit oversize for diesel gas as you add only 25% or less LPG (by litres) to your diesel.

PM me if you want a chat.

Only if you compare a 300tdi to a non turbo early 80's 4BD1. The late 4BD1T's are as smooth and quiet as a 300tdi, but deliver twice the torque. A 4BD1T shames a SBC for torque.

I can't see the SBC offering anything but more go at high rpm.

I have away been under the impression that the 4bd1t came out in Australia up until 1992! Now If you and Vern know something I don't, please fill me in.

    cheers

I thought it was until 94 and in some markets until 98. But it may be hard to prove.
The Isuzu 4BE1 was used until 98/99 in NZ and probably Au. It is 3.6 litre, shorter stroke and bigger bore but same engine family. Non turbo but that's easy to fix.
