Thread: TorqueFlite torque converter flush

When i had a torqueflite i took the torque converter to an automatic specialist, they drilled a hole-flushed it and brazed it up[i think it was balanced as well], the logic was that the RR was slow because the torque converter was clogged up, in reality the RR was just slow

Can you give some idea of how much that procedure is likely to cost, the vehicle is not worth a lot and the couple that are looking at owning it, are down on their luck.

The alternative is to find another torque converter for the good auto, are there any other torque converters about?

It would have been 10 years ago when i had that done so cant help you there, personally i would fit a zf box out of a v8 disco if you could find one at the right price[i know-moneys tight]

Everything seems to be pushing me to use the ZF out of the burnt '93 D1 that I all ready have.

The changeover does look to be fairly straight forward as well, so unless someone can put up another torque converter, the Rangie loses it's originality.
