    TorqueFlite torque converter flush

I have a torque converter to go back on a good TorqueFlite auto box, the old box had the oil pump chew bits out of itself and I need to use the torque converter that was originally in the 1984 Range Rover.

Is there a risk that metal fragments have lodged inside the torque converter and if so, how can they be flushed out?

When i had a torqueflite i took the torque converter to an automatic specialist, they drilled a hole-flushed it and brazed it up[i think it was balanced as well], the logic was that the RR was slow because the torque converter was clogged up, in reality the RR was just slow

    Hi redrovertdi

Can you give some idea of how much that procedure is likely to cost, the vehicle is not worth a lot and the couple that are looking at owning it, are down on their luck.

The alternative is to find another torque converter for the good auto, are there any other torque converters about?

Everything seems to be pushing me to use the ZF out of the burnt '93 D1 that I all ready have.

The changeover does look to be fairly straight forward as well, so unless someone can put up another torque converter, the Rangie loses it's originality.

    More than likely yes.

I had mine reconditioned twice by a firm in Perth who machined the weld to separate the halves; did the rebuild and re-welded it,

    Cheers Charlie
