My '83 leans to the left...
Okay it was no surprise when my 1988 Range Rover failed its RWC inspection. I picked it up from the inspector this morning and here is the list of items that need to be fixed:
- Disc brake rotors and pads need to be replaced all round
- Rear upper arm pivot, top of diff, boot is split
- LPG service line guard required left hand front wheel arch area
- Relocate Fuel filter from Right hand rear wheel arch area
- Right hand tank gas pipe is twisted
- LPG gas line needs further securing
- The car body leans to the right (Springs?)
So that's not an enormous list and I'm hoping I can tackle some of the jobs myself.
With regard to point 7 - The car leans to the right, is it possible that the right hand springs are somehow shorter than the ones on the left? or could there be another cause?
Will update this post with progress over the next couple of weeks.

My '83 leans to the left...
My hybrid leans to the right. Always has.
Surprises me it is a roadworthy issue.
Grab a broomstick and measure just about any car on the roads. They'll all lean to the right to some extent. I had a wheel alignment specialist show me this many years ago on one of my old Citroens. His explanation was cars mostly only have the driver in them. So over time the rollbars and springs compress slightly more on the drivers side.
I wonder if LHD cars leans towards the left
I'd fear getting a roadworthy on any of my vehicles these days in Victoria. I have 4cars on the road at the moment ..... Only one of them is on full registration .... (the modern one). The others are all club permit cars that the club inspector views (so they haven't had a roadworthy). i don't know how anyone would get a roadworthy on a Range Rover Classic these days .... It appears they leaked when new, so how they could show no traces of leakage from anywhere 20+years later is beyond me.
He has picked so much so that if an inspector checks his books, it appears he's doing his job. If the roadworthy place allowed older cars through withotu finding a single thing wrong, they'd probably be investigated.

Victorian RWC's are very strict now, They even have to take photos of the tyres, speedo & defects etc incase of an Audit, and also covers them if someone swaps a mates new tyres on just for the RWC test. They days of going to see your RWC mate & letting a car thru that you promise not to sell are gone
The body lean is quite pronounced on my car. Anyone would pick it because the car looks lop sided.
I cant believe it came out the factory that way so I there must be something adrift.

just swap coils . left for right , do front first that might just fix it, very easy to do.
They want you to move the fuel filter?? Idiots. You really are powerless when it comes to RWCs, at the mercy of the person doing the inspection. Years ago I sold a Fiat Superbrava, the tester knocked back the spare wheel being unsecured. In the boot. Under a locked boot lid, just like it left the factory. I had to make a clamp to hold it down, no amount of arguing was going to help.
