is it full moon again so soon?

as much i don't mind a good debate, it seems some of you chaps can't have a chat with out descending to personality attacks and playing the man

funilly enough people seem to forget that as soon as you do that you come across as having lost the discussion.

the mods have been tolerant to the point that it is about to reach the point where they will be forced to act and i have some new ones itching to get a score under their belt

if you have something concrete to add to the debate please continue to speak your mind.

if you can't or don't have the sense to put forward your case with out resorting to personalities, please go somewhere else and bang your chest.

it is a debate, you either put up or you shut up..

or get punted for personal attacks.

    you've been warned

    thank you.

I think the reason people tend to go the Holden 5 litre route is because it would be a lot easier to get an engineer to sign off on the conversion. I am pretty sure that in the mid 80's an Australian tuning company did a 5.0L conversion, this makes things a lot more straight forward in regards to paper work.

    Cheers

EDIT: I just had a look at the Marks 4wd adaptor website and it looks like they have a LS engine conversion kit. Usually they only release product if they can be engineered so if given the choice I would go the LS.

You do realise that the td5 is nothing special in running stakes? It is simply another 2.5 litre tdi. The tuning follows exactly the same rules and process as any other tdi.
It doesn't matter who made your engine, whether it's a unit injector, vp44 or commonrail. Doesn't matter of the ecu was from Bosch, Siemens, zexel or Lucas. The control scheme is the same. The main difference is fuel based control or torque based, but with simple maths they are interchangeable.

The only difference is a hot smokey tune in a heavy 4wd has a far higher chance of ending in engine damage than a hot smokey tune in a light car. Most of the tunes you see on YouTube only survive because they never see high load for any length of time.

As I wrote earlier I do not have a td5.

Dougal, you may want to look into putting the gems injection in; not much wrong with the hotwire. But for not a whole heap of work fully sequential injection, and a better oil pump. Gems ecu can be programed to run without the security code from a becm. So if you go changing cams, compression ratios, lpg/ulp etc it'll adjust whereas the 14cux wont really do that to much.
Thanks for the info. But it's just curiosity. I have no plans to mod my v8. It's a temporary resident at my place.

Common rail diesels are far different to tune than "any tdi"

There is no magical smoke free tune to obtain maximum HP

With a large amount of HP/torque you can't sustain engine load, long enough, to get EGT temperature to hot even with a smokey tune sometimes

Again, I ask, what experience do you have, tuning diesel engines, not just TD5?

Put up or shut up, sounds good

We're still waiting for the EGT measurements he promised. What claims has Jose backed again?

What commonrail engines has rovercare tuned to claim a major difference between those and other fully electronic diesels (unit injector, electronic rotary pump etc)?

How is the superawesomecharged diesel VM is building going?

Post #85 is where the misinformation and attacks started. That would be an excellent place to start pruning and spraying with trollicide.

    *edit*
Post #85 is gone, the post now there is completely different.
