Does a p38 air compressor fit in a classic?

As per the title, is the compressor for the EAS on a p38 the same as the one on a softdash classic? If mine is cactus, it might be cheaper and easier to get the p38 one.
    thanks

    G`day ,

not a straight swap but ours has a P38a one .

The head plate for the remote inlet needs swapping to the p38 pump a new rear mounting needs to be made for the p38 pump it will use the same plug .

The P38a has the filter/inlet at the pump the other is remote .

The p38a motor is longer so the need for different mount because the rear mount is on the back of both electric motors .

The pumps other than the head plate are the same internally including bearings .

If the ecu hasn`t hard faulted you may want to do some searching and reading first but if it has already it won`t matter . Don`t have the engine running and don`t have the key on when disconnecting or reconnecting the ecu .

If you want to try the compressor that`s in it , looking under the front of the drivers seat and disconnecting the ecu .
Using the plug with the drivers door open , jump a wire between pin 1 and pin 8 connectors this should if things are right run the pump , it`s important to be careful/gentle with the connectors .

    Thanks mate.
What does hard faulted mean? And which pins are 1 and 8, I'm assuming its the pins on the actual ECU not the wiring harness? Engine off/key out the entire time as well

And if I use a test light, should I get power in the light if I do this, as well as have the pump run?
    thanks mate.

Worked out which pins to use, and got the compressor to actually run!

thanks for the help. Now I need to work out why it doenst run any other time!

Only had the car two days, so getting there slowly. Lots to do and lots to learn.

Should I invest in some type of cable/computer program (like nancom?) for the classic/EAS so that I can read what faults are what, or is there another way to do it without all that stuff?

Just been told by my Sollihull trained mechanic that even the D3/D4 pumps are not that flash. What we need is a link for a proper pump. I can't believe that after all this time someone hasn't come up with a suitable product - so prove me wrong GRIN!!
