    very noisy lt95

hi all i have a 1984 3.5 litre v8 range rover with the twin carbies and LT95 gearbox transfer combined. the gearbox and or transfer is very noisy as i accelerate through the gears, the cost of getting the gearbox rebuilt far out weights the cost of the car itself. so what i would like to know is, is there another gearbox that with the least modification i could put into the rangie, i dont want a automatic. thanks from peter

The easiest thing would be to stick another LT95 in it - good second hand units are not hard to find.

Or, you could go to a 5 speed, but none of the options here are as strong as the LT95. The LT77 or R380 can be mated to an LT230 transfer case and stuffed in there without issue.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

I found a uk supplier who could freight a full rebuild for about $1500 delivered to Melbourne. I will see if I can find the details next week when back at work.

Who was that? There aren't many dealing with the LT95 anymore. A quick search turned up NK Recovery, and these guys: Land Rover gearboxes - Reconditioned Land Rover gearboxes
At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.

yep thanks, bacicat, thats good so i have three options, and yes i would like another lt95 but with second hand boxes i might put it in and find that the seller told me it was good but it might not be. i might have to bight the wallet and get a reconditioned box either r380,lt77 or lt95 thanks from peter.
