Thread: Paint Code Help

Googling those will pull up the paint codes.

Unfortunately I have already been down that path and strangely enough Land Rover listed Sahara Dust as a colour for the body paint on the car and also the colour for the wheels. But they are two completely different colours and the paint code for Sahara Dust mixes up as a match for the body colour and not for the wheels.

I thought all the wheels were "sparkle silver"? Didn't they only start colour-matching wheels around 1988 with the vogues?

They are not a colour match but they have the same name, that is the big problem trying to find the paint code!
I will see if I can find some pictures. Most had the silver wheels you speak of but some had a different colour silver, more of a mat dusty type of silver.

From personal experience, having a standard wheel (the spare wheel usually) which hasn't faded used as a sample and taken to a paint supplier will yield a perfect result.
Most paint suppliers take great pride in their abilities to provide a match.

The pigments and formulas used "back in the day" are no longer the same.

I too have noticed there seems to be two different colours of silver. Simply put a light type and a darker, grey silver.

That's interesting, I assumed someone had resprayed the spare in mine. It's the "sparkle silver" colour ... It still wears the original michelin tire too. I don't think you'd want to use that old tire, that's for sure.

I guess I'll be matching the spares colour if i paint mine. The sparkle silver suites the car perfectly!
