'90 Stalling on take off
Hey everyone, Recently sold my L322 and got my hands on a 1990 Vogue automatic instead. I'm having an issue which we can't diagnose and i'm wondering if anyone can shed any light on it.
It intermittently goes to stall (and succeeds intermittently too) on take off under part load, Usually if I go to drive out of the driveway first thing, but also after being stuck in traffic for half an hour or so. It has stalled on me coming our of busy car parks, intersections and in traffic... and doesn't start straight away either (Even burnt the starter motor out!).
If I floor it, the revs will drop and then carry on as nothing happened. It has also occasionally hesitated while driving along, when I put my foot down a bit the revs drop, put my foot down more, it stutters about then all of a sudden it gets up and goes! Usually it does that once or twice and gets over it, the other day it didn't go away left me stuck in the driveway.
I've been searching around for information on this for a while now with little success, The only thing which we're remotely convinced it could be a fuel pump.
Has anyone had these symptoms or seen anything like this? It's difficult because it's so intermittent.
Thanks in advance for your help!!

Throttle position sensor (TPS) and mass air flow meter (MAF) should be checked for proper operation, then check the fuel pressure regulator isn't piddling into the manifold via its vacuum connection. Buy a RAVE workshop manual if you're unsure about what's what.

Someone has to ask the obvious...
Why ?

- Surely the L322 was'nt that unreliable.....

Nearly 2 years of ownership of the L322 and almost never got to drive it. It was awful! Coming at it from a different angle now, the classic is a second car, so don't really mind if it sits there for a couple of months doing nothing. Plus I wanted to get the savings account back on track!
There's more of a sense of pride in the classic though, it has so much more character!
