    Aquired 1974 2-Door

Just purchased a 1974 two door, looked good on ebay and looking over it I should not have to much work to do.

Just went through the car and found the paperwork and it seems it was purchased in the UK as a private import. Chassis number 3560153B. The paperwork also has the engine number recorded and it is the original motor.

Apart from the oil leaks (normal) there is a little rust hidden from eyes.

Needs a windscreen and a transfer case diff lock lever. (any clues on where to source one)

Most of the work I can see is stripping, cleaning and re-assembling, nothing to hard only time consuming.

Has anyone changed the rear guards? This one has had flares put on and the wheel arches chopped. I either will do that or track down a set of hurricane mags and a set of 31/10.5/15 AT's. The small tyres look a bit silly on it.

The transfer lever has me a little worried, why it is not there I don't know. Also the Boge self levelling device is looking a little sad.

Oh well let the fun begin

It would be a shame not to bring such an early original example back to stock form. Either way I would not go 15s.

    Hi,

Should there not be an additional 0? - so 35600153. If so it is more likely to be a 1972 model and as said very early - out of the factory in about March 1972. A nice acquisition.

Not sure old rego label has 35601536B but paperwork shows first rego in the UK as NXC 348MK and it was a personal export.

First QLD rego was OWJ-072 however was/is 209-SAX (rego about to lapse)

    Chassis no 35601536B
Eng no 355130361B although I can't see the second one on the eng block.
    Delivery date 1.8.73

The delivery inspection was done by Bryan's Garage (RYE) Ltd. RYE Sussex.

No service history to speak of, hehe but seems in good nick

I would like to take it back to original that is why I asked the question on how easy it is to change the rear guards.

I have Disco wheels on it atm but have classic steels somewhere

All clear now, I was thinking it was even earlier than it is.

Vidaer's is a great site - there is an enormous amount of information in it.

Rear guards are quite easy, from memory rivets down door pillar, screws along top inside under trim and rivets down rear near where the tail gate closes, have to remove the rear lights, possibly a nut/bolt with rear mudflap and plastic trim along the sills.
