You mean the starter won't turn? or the starter turns and the engine will not catch?
If the starter doesn't turn then it is an earth/power problem or crook starter.
if the starter turns but the engine doesn't start it may be something else including immobiliser.

    immobiliser??

Hi philip A the starter doesnt turn . Does the immobiliser only cut fuel etc or strater too? i might use jumper leqds tomorrow see it that works direct contact with battery. ill go from there i guess. if thay doesnt work prob means starter stuffed. Might have to give it a love tap...

I don't know specifically about the 93 immobiliser , but every other immobiliser I have dealt with usually places a switch/relay in the ignition circuit but the RRC one may add to the ECU.
    I doubt to the starter.

I have a 93 and I've started her with jumper leads and a screw driver across the terminals on the starter motor.
Try the jumper leads first and the 'love tap' last

I also have a 1993 and mine also would not start, my problem was the distributor was bad...I bought a new distributor and distributor cap and now it starts up right away....look at your distributor

    Immobilsier

Ive tried to jump start the starter motor with jumper leads straight to from battery to terminals but no go starter must be stuffed. Arrrrrr awell. I hate changing these units.. guaranteed extra oil and grim on hands! Less skin on hands...and use of alen key type skt arrr ohhh oh dont forget the positive wire which is allways stiff and hard to put on...hmmmaybe ive been around these rovers too much. I guess we love them
