Info please - '86 Rangy

Hello everyone, the proud day has come that we received a beautiful (though rough) new addition to my LR family 8O ... an '86 Range Rover EFI 3.5L Manual.

Anyone have any suggestions or advice for me please?? Adjustments, problems, accessories, unusual sounds??? I look forward to any experience you can give.

Pics to be posted in a few weeks when i've had the interior reupholstered, and a bit of panel-beating done

Well done outlaw, you lucky thing. Sounds like a great toy.....

A 2.5" exhaust would be a good place to start, so we can hear the V8....

got a hotdog exhaust already installed, makes a very nice grumble that would sound fantastic on my S3 thinking maybe extractors but will run it for a few weeks first to see how the original economy is... i'm currently used to 230k out of a 70l tank on my S3 so won't take too much to impress

Depends on how you want it too end up.

With the moter, start by replacing the leads with a nice thick copper core set, and some good NGK plugs.
Will make a nice differance, or it did to my 3.9.

After that you could go anyways you wanted.

Lift it, cut it, bore it, supercharge it, almost anything.

Has anyone had any experience with replacing the motor in a range rover with a 4 cyl diesel (turbo or non turbo)?

I've seen a couple of ads on the net suggesting TDi, 4BD1T, daihatsu 2.8lt.

I am thinking about buying a cheap rangy with a clapped out 3.5 v8.

I think there was a 300tdi for sale either in ebay or in for sale on this site - and i think one of the landrover mags did a few issues on the changeover
