    75 window winder

G'day all. My first entry so here goes. I have a 75 RR and a broken plastic window winder handle. It has a hexagonal shape where it connects to the door. The newer RR one's are round if I remember correctly. I'm after a metal handle that won't break under the strain of winding the window up. The new Bailey channel rubbers are very tight. I've considered powdered graphite and ArmorAll to free it up but a metal handle might do the trick. Does anyone have any ideas where I could get a pair?
    Thanks

Take a couple of photos of it for me, particulary the back as to how it fastens to the window winder. Their is a small possibility that by using the original as a pattern be able to cast you one in aluminium.
How is it fastened to the window winder - screwed on or by other means?

    I have an '81 2 door.
In my experience new Bailey channel rubbers are tight and stress the teeth on the window winder mechanism beyond their limits. The winder on a 2 door is lifting a considerable weight of glass, and does not react well to the extra stress of lots of friction in the channels. My advice is to find the old rubbers and put them back on.
New winder mechanisms are fiddley to get in and out of the door, but if you leave those new channels on, after a few replacements you'll get the hang of it.

    G'day,
If you get desperate Disco 1 window winders fit RR. Also you mention Bailey channel rubbers. Can u give me a bit of info on these. I presume they are the channels that windows slide up and down in.

I went through heaps of the plastic ones and ended up making some out of steel
Cut thin pieces off a socket the same size as the hex, welded them to a piece of flat plate and bolted a large nut on the other end with a nyloc nut so it can swivel. Use the existing screw to hold the whole thing onto the winder spindle.

Look better than they sound will take a pic when I get chance

Les Richmond in Victoria used to sell unbreakable plastic ones.
They may still have some in stock.

Many thanks to all for advice and help to solve this problem. And so quickly. I'm sure I will have other issues along the way and aulro will be my first port of call.
