Bump. No one here with a BW that has ever pulled the speedo cable off and know what the end of the cable looks like?
Quick question for those that have a Borg Warner TC in their RRC's. who has removed the speedo cable before? I see a square drive in the housing, but what should be on the end of the cable to connect to this?
Also, has anyone tried removing the speedo drive assembly from the TC? It looks like it should slide straight out once the cable is removed, but the one I'm working on is stuck fast. Ay ideas on how to shift it?
Cheers - Babs.

Should it be any different to an lt230 speedo drive?
I don't know - it may be. I really need to know if it is the same as an LT95 actually...
Also, I need to confirm the drive comes out once the cable retaining clip and the cable is removed. The one I'm working on is stuck fast and the cable is damaged where it meets the drive.

I haven't had my BW speedo cable out, but it looks exactly like the LT230 parts. The LT230 often locks in as well, it's simply the square ended cable gettting wedged in the socket. Always comes out after a wiggle.
I have never worked on an LT95, but landrover aren't known for changing parts they don't have to.
I've got a BW transfer and a LT230 both partially dismantled on the bench. The speedo drives appear identical and interchangeable, should slide out when the little clamp plate on the outside is removed. I don't have a cable to look at though.
That's all sounding good. Anyone got any ideas on removing one that seems to be seized in the case? Not much room to get anything to try and twist it or anything.

Speedo drives are the same item on LT95 and LT230 Gav, but not sure if the BW is the same. If they are assembled without any lubricant on the casing the next poor bugger who tries to remove it finds it stuck just like you have. Usually trying to prise it out results in pieces breaking off the lip. If you have the housing off the transfer case and the rear shaft removed you just insert a flat bladed screwdriver behind the plastic drive gear and lever it until it comes free. The end of the cable should be square so it fits into the drive shaft inside the speedo drive. Hope this helps.

Thanks Brian. The unit is in the vehicle at the moment, so not that easy. The speedo cable is broken off in the square drive, flush with the drive, so I can't get the old speedo cable out.
I thought I'd have a better chance with the whole drive on the bench...
Maybe a bigger job than I thought.![]()
