    Driver door lock issues

    Hay all,
I thought before I pull everything apart, I thought Id ask the question,

When I try to lock the drivers door, it wont utlise the central locking so I have to open the rear door and lock the car that way. I am assuming its an actuator issue, but just putting it out there.

a little direction would be good, if its a common issue.

    Cheers NAT

Hopefully the RRC used standard actuators. I use actuators available from Jacar on my Disco 1. Bolt straight in.

I believe the drivers door is a little more electronically sophisticated than the other doors, ie you will need to purchase the master actuator - however, having said that I have not had to replace any drivers door actuators, just other passenger doors.

Keep in mind, if RRC are like Disco you may have a broken spring in the locking mechanism. Available on ebay or from a chap in UK.

The Jaycar actuators do fit, with a little finesse. My 87 has the whole Jaycar remote central kit in it now. The offset is a little different for the bolts though, but I did all four doors in about an hour and a half.

If you go the Jaycar route and just get the one master actuator, you'll have to feed the wires through a member in the door then plug it into the OEM harness. Sounds simple, but you'll need something to pull the wires through. I bought one of the long handled claw and magnet kits for the job.
