    93 Door Locks

The otter day the central locking played up on my '93 Rangie and I used a bit too much force in turning the key in the lock and managed to snap the ring on the back end of the door lock barrel.

I'm trying to source a replacement clip, I guess it would, be I but can't seem to see it on the parts list - This might lead to the obvious statement that they don't make them separate to the barrel but obviously I' hoping they do so I don't need to change lock barrels, etc. It looks as though something similar has happened in the past to the passenger side too.

I've attached the relevant page of the Service Manual (bottom pic) on which I have circled and arrowed the bit I need and relevant page of the Parts Catalogue (top pic) on which I can't separately identify the part I need. It seems to fit on the end of the barrel and engages with the lock linkage.

I hope that all makes sense!!

Also, anyone know if its a simple process to get remotes/fobs for it? It only came with a normal door key when I got the vehicle but I understand it would have had remote entry when new.

    TIA,
    Stu

    G`day ,

the clip you want doesn`t seem to come alone .

You could possibly make one or go to a workshop or repco ETC and find a generic type .

    The clip is C shaped approx = 19mm OD , 1mm thick (0.9mm )

    The C part is approx 7.5mm wide , 13mm long .

The same clip can be found on any 4 door ( for sure ) from 1984/5 BA vin to
1993/4 KA vin . Earlier 4 door with 1/4 vent may be same but don`t know and Soft dash drivers side is larger but pass may be same ( don`t remember ) .

One could be cut from a suitable washer .

It`s held on by magic and a little crimping but needs to allow free movement .

The Fobs can be bought but are not cheap , need to be the right frequency .

The your type RR uses the single button type as does the Soft dash and early Disco .

There is an activation sequence for the fob , i know the Soft dash one but not the hard dash .

We have a soft with a broken fob but i never really trusted it and we have a hard with a working fob but i`ve never pushed the button to see if it works because again don`t trust it .

They seem to arm ok but sometimes to disarm you may need to walk up close and stand on one foot with your tongue pointed north or maybe north east .
