    Import engine.

Am considering importing 4.6 short engine from UK for my Have been given price of £438 shipping by TNT from UK to Frankston. Have done calculation on Customs website which says zero import duty, an import duty processing fee of $40 plus GST of $440. So on top of cost of engine and shipping I will have to pay about $480.
Does this seem right? Anybody else done the same thing?

    Thanks

You will pay 10% GST on the cost of the engine, shipping and any import duties. The admin fee will be around $200, at least it was when I imported some wheels a while back. $40 admin fees sound too low.

Oh make sure it is being couriered door to door as all the paper work is done by the courier company. If you get it sent to a port - you have to arrange clearance and you will need an agent and it will cost a bit more.

Hi Diso, I have been thinking of a 4.6 for my 1995 soft dash, I am unsure whether to buy local or overseas. It would be interesting if you could continue this thread with your final costings. Thanks in advance. Phil
